IT WAS, AND REMAINS, deeply sad to hear of the premature passing of Bonnie Greer, a truly special person. I always held her in great regard. She was one of those rare people I would stop to listen to when on television, no matter how busy I was. Highly intelligent, articulate and knowledgeable across a remarkable range of subjects, she offered brilliant social commentary and seemed equally at ease discussing complex politics, literature or art.

AS ONE DOES, I checked her year of birth, only to discover something more: she shared the same birthday as my late mother.
