There is something about Liverpool that keeps drawing me back. What began as visits for football and work has turned into a genuine appreciation for a city full of character, history, culture and surprises. And this time, Liverpool gave me another reason to return — River of Light 2026!
As darkness fell, familiar streets and historic buildings took on a completely different appearance, transformed by colourful, imaginative and sometimes extraordinary light installations. From the playful figures of The Anooki to the vibrant displays of Flower Power, Colour Rush, Paradigm and Dream Herd, there was something fascinating around every corner.
What particularly struck me was how the installations brought people together. Families, couples, tourists and locals wandered through the city, stopping to admire the artwork, take photographs and simply enjoy the atmosphere. And that, for me, is part of Liverpool’s charm. It’s a city that doesn’t stand still. Just when I think I’ve seen so much of what it has to offer, I discover something new.
I’ve explored Liverpool by day, walked its streets at night, discovered its musical heritage and admired its magnificent architecture. River of Light has added another chapter to that journey.
Was it worth returning? Absolutely!
🎥 I’ve captured several River of Light installations on my YouTube channel, so you can experience some of the magic for yourself.
